Contemporary Estate
Objectives
-Design an “entertainment friendly” getaway that’s party ready with a single button-press.
-Must be easy to use for guests and newcomers
The client often stops in for a night at a time and wanted to be able to bring the house to life and shut it down without spending half an hour navigating the estate. They entertain often, so music and lighting were the highest priorities.
User Interfaces
This client had an eye for details, as such, she opted for anodized metal wall-plates for the keypads throughout the home. Conversely, she had zero interest in touch-panels or more technology cluttering up the wall so we opted to keep control of the home minimized to handheld remotes and an iPad.
Although a quite elaborate and complex system, the multitude of steps required to initialize an action were reduced to a couple of swipes and button presses. By designing the Interfaces with the clients favorite activities on the home screens, they’re never left to redundancies when engaging with the home.
One of their favorite features is the scheduled lighting scenes that turn on at duck so the surveillance cameras can maintain 4k resolution throughout the night.
Lighting
Natural & Artificial Lighting Control were critical to setting the mood while entertaining.
Multiple reviews of sheer effects (opacity) and color temperatures were necessary to bring the interior space to exacting specification.
By balancing natural and artificial light, social activities can slowly migrate to different areas throughout an evening of events.
Result
As a 10 year endeavor to build the perfect home, the client sighed a breath of relief upon completion. They’re still enjoying the fruits of our expertise to this day.
