Our Value Proposition

Lucid provides: Solutions Consulting, Design Engineering, Project Management, & Vendor Recommendations.

From Conception to Close-out, Lucid ensures you receive a quintessential solution, taking into consideration: cutting edge technologies, pricing, vendor options, contract terms, installation quality, warranties, and long term serviceability.

At some point, you’ll find yourself asking, “is a technology consultant worth the cost?” Although Lucid cannot answer that question for you, we can say our fees are typically absorbed by the reduced costs you’ll receive in the spec-bid environment.

In other words…in many cases, our services are essentially FREE.

Discovery

It all begins here. Lucid will perform a performance & budget discovery where we step through each & every aspect of the project to identify your needs and decipher where your priorities lie.

Maybe your goal is architectural minimalism and you’d rather technology not be focal point in your space— clean lines, decluttered walls, hidden hardware, etc. Conversely, audiophile tech could be a “Statement Piece” and showcase feats of engineering that has no rival. Even still, high technology that incorporates robotics and automation with a “Jarvis” level assistant might be your interest. Or, a better-than-commercial Digital Cinema with visceral “otherworldly” performance that will leave the audience perplexed and astonished.

Lucid will take your ideas and assist you in cultivating a vision. The result of this process is a very easy to understand illustration of your dreams on paper.

Design Engineering

The old adage, “the devil’s in the details”, couldn’t be truer. Once the vision is formed, we’ll begin stepping through the most critical aspects of the project. During this phase, we’ll be working closely with the Architecture, MEP, & Interior Design firms to ensure every detail is planned and accounted for. This will safeguard your project from any unanticipated changes and confirm that all the trades will be able to come together in lockstep.

Electrical reports will communicate how much power and where that power is needed. Mechanical reports provide the critical thermal management data necessary to make sure your equipment operates at maximum efficiency and survives well beyond the typical warranty period.

Elevations are used to coordinate placement of components that consume real estate, with Architects & Interior Designers, so all the technology flows aesthetically and has a livable space.

This phase generates the documentation required to go to bid. Infrastructure lengths, types & quantities, pathways & routing (with impedance/load calculations), and connectivity reports provide potential Vendors every minute detail necessary to return an accurate fixed quote for the project.

We will also develop the historical record for the project during this phase, less any minor changes. Keeping accurate records can reduce Life Cycle Cost by as much as 20%, while simultaneously affording post-project vendor flexibility.

All too often clients find themselves “cuffed” to their technology provider due to the proprietary nature inherent to technology. Changing Vendors after project completion can easily become a 5-figure endeavor if the Record Set is incomplete or inaccurate—assuming it even exists.

Negotiations & Contracting

Vendors will be selected based on historical data as it pertains to size & scope of the project. Special considerations will be made based on the project’s specifics; e.g., Digital Cinema, Keypad types, and Speaker Selections.

Once the preliminary bids are received, we will make recommendations for Vendor interviews, at which point you’ll have the choice to use our top recommendation— or we can schedule “presentation interviews” so that you can get a feel for each provider.

Certain aspects of the Contract may need to be negotiated among the parties. Conditions like Payment Terms, Retainage, Completion Terms, Warranty, Deployment Options, and Service Packages vary from client to client.

Once satisfactory terms are reached and the Contract is executed, we’ll build the tentative project schedule and begin preparing the working documents utilized to manage the project.

Deployment & Management

During the construction phases of the project, Lucid send our in-house team to verify that all facets of the Project meet code and exceed stringent industry standards.

During the Rough-In, we inspect the site and document (pictures/video) placement & routing, UL/NEC & TIA/EIA codes have been followed, identification nomenclatures are accurate, and that all cabling has been properly certified. Once we receive Vendor reports, we revise the record-set to guarantee the accuracy of information.

Similar to Rough-In, at the Trim phase, Lucid reviews each area of interest. Items like terminations, wire labels, leveling, and form-fit-function are inspected/tested for compliance.

Either Lucid or the client will provide payment to the Vendor, depending on our Contract Terms.

Close-Out

At project completion, we update and deliver all “as-built” project documentation.
